The television show Peču pro tebe (I Bake for You), brought to the screens of the regional channel TV Brno 1 by the Czech Bakers and Confectioners Association, has built a stable position in the program schedule. The project, focused on educating in the field of bakery production, has already aired many episodes, showing viewers technological procedures and the backstage of Czech bakeries. The show maps both small craft operations and large automated bakeries, illustrating the diversity and modern form of the entire industry.
The guide and face of the show is Stanislav Janíček, who works as a bread sommelier within the association. Janíček, who has been involved in baking since childhood and has twenty-five years of experience in the field, has become a stable element of the broadcast. His goal is to bring the demanding nature and aesthetics of the baking craft to the public through the television screen and emphasize the importance of bread as a staple food.
“I want to show the beauty of this craft and show people how to appreciate bread as a staple food. And most importantly, I think bread is the biggest cool guy because it has two crusts,” says Stanislav Janíček about his role in the show.
During the current series, the crew visited a number of establishments, including Pekařství Křivka (Křivka Bakery). Here, viewers could uncover the secrets of making honest bread and draw on the experience of master bakers. Each episode focuses on specific recipes and procedures designed to help home bakers and ordinary consumers achieve the best possible results when baking bread or rolls.
The show maintains its regular slot on TV Brno 1 and has become a fixture, airing every first Thursday of the month. Thanks to its focus on traditional and modern recipes and its educational outreach, the project enjoys the interest of viewers looking for a deeper insight into food production in the Czech Republic. In addition to the premiere television broadcast, individual episodes are also available to viewers in online replays, further increasing the reach of bakery awareness.
