Online supermarket Košík.cz has announced direct integration of its application into the ChatGPT artificial intelligence interface. As the first food retailer in the Central European region, it allows customers to complete purchases directly within OpenAI's chatbot environment. The company also concluded the pilot operation of its own MCP (Model Context Protocol) server and made it available to developers, which opens the way for the use of other AI assistants, such as Claude.
The integration on the OpenAI Marketplace allows users to log into their Košík user account directly in the chat. The AI assistant can then search for goods, modify shopping cart content, work with delivery details, and submit the entire order. According to the company, the ChatGPT interface shares an overview of order status and products in a similar style to what customers are used to from the native app, including credit card payment support.
Company management expects the role of artificial intelligence in e-commerce to grow significantly. Although purchases via AI assistants currently account for only a fraction of total sales, strategic plans anticipate rapid adaptation of this technology among consumers.
“The share of conversations and AI searches is growing exponentially. It is already clear that this will be a key future source of traffic. By 2030, we expect orders via AI to account for up to fifteen percent of all orders,” states Jiří Sloup, Head of Architecture & AI at Košík.cz.
In addition to individual purchases, the online supermarket focuses on corporate clients through the MCP server. In the testing phase, this was primarily used by companies to automate regular deliveries of refreshments, such as fruit or breakfasts. Connecting with corporate AI agents is intended to enable, for example, more efficient inventory management at reception desks without the need for manual entry of each item.
In the next phase of development, Košík.cz wants to add functions for customer support, order history, and claims processing to the AI interface. Artificial intelligence should also be able to work with detailed product information, such as nutritional values. The company adds that AI also plays a role in internal processes, such as operational automation and dynamic pricing.
