One of the prominent personalities of radio broadcasting has left the media world. At the age of 78, presenter Franta Šťastna passed away, whose voice was inextricably linked with Country Radio for three decades. His colleagues from the radio station, where he worked almost since its inception, announced his death.
Franta Šťastna's professional career in media began in the 1980s, when he worked as a reporter for the then national station Hvězda. After the revolutionary changes in the media environment, he briefly tried presenting at Prague's Radio Golem. However, in 1993, he permanently settled at Country Radio, to which he remained loyal for the rest of his active career.
During his many years on the country music airwaves, he went through several broadcasting slots. Listeners remember him primarily in the 1990s as the host of the morning broadcast, where he became a popular companion for starting a new day. Later, his role in the program changed, and he became a distinctive voice of the evening broadcast, which he complemented for many years with his characteristic voice and delivery.
Colleagues remember him as a professional who was present at key moments in the development of private radio broadcasting in the Czech Republic. His melodic voice accompanied listeners for almost thirty years and became one of the symbols of the station.
The family and close colleagues have also released details about the final farewell. The memorial service will take place on Thursday, May 14, at 12:40 PM. It will be held in the small ceremonial hall of the Strašnice Crematorium in Prague, where friends, colleagues, and the wider public of radio listeners will be able to say goodbye.
