Former Czech Television presenter Václav Moravec is returning to the media scene after leaving the public broadcaster in March. He announced on the social network X that he would launch his own independent project at the end of May. This comes two months after he ended his 21-year tenure as the host of the discussion program Otázky Václava Moravce (Václav Moravec's Questions).
According to available information, preparations for the new start are in an advanced stage. Moravec has already registered the trademarks Moravec VM and VM with the Industrial Property Office. Another step towards professional independence was the establishment of the company Moravec Media at the end of March this year. The new project is expected to build on collaboration with a number of creative individuals with whom the presenter has met in recent weeks.
“It has been two months since I made the most difficult professional decision. I believe that all the people I have met during that time will be part of the new start. I'll probably launch something at the end of May,” Moravec stated.
He explained his departure from Czech Television, which he announced live on March 8, 2026, as a value-based decision. According to his previous statements to the Czech media, he felt a loss of the ability to guarantee independent editorial work and critical reflection of current events. The presenter, who was named the biggest Czech newsinfluencer in April, also decided to waive the financial benefits from his non-compete clause so that he could start working on the new project without delay.
The structure and format of the upcoming media have not yet been officially presented. Moravec, however, previously hinted that he might be inspired by the model chosen by Slovak presenter Michal Kovačič after his departure from Markíza television. Kovačič's project is based on subscriptions and direct viewer support, which allows for the full preservation of editorial autonomy outside the structures of large media houses.
