The digital news platform TN live has completed its first year of operation in the Slovak market. The project, created under the umbrella of Markíza TV's News and Current Affairs Centre, has recorded almost 17 million video views across all of the TV's platforms in the twelve months of its existence. This result confirms the growing trend of consuming news content directly in the online environment outside the linear broadcasting of the main channel.
In addition to the total number of views, the platform has shown a significant increase in the production of its own content. While the project offered three original formats at its launch, the number has now grown to ten. The editorial team focuses primarily on extraordinary broadcasts for current events and in-depth analyses that complement the standard television news service. The strategy is based on viewers' need to follow events in real-time without having to wait for the main evening news.
“It has been shown that people don't just want a short headline or a two-minute report. They want to be part of important events live and understand the context. They want to watch an interview or a special when they have time,”
explained Michal Kratochvíl, director of the TV Markíza News and Current Affairs Centre, on the reasons for the digital platform's success. According to him, the project has managed to fill gaps in the market, with news becoming immediately available through the tnlive.sk web portal and associated social networks, which were also renamed TN live as part of brand unification.
The project was implemented by a team led by Lukáš Zuzelka, with the platform's creation also supported by the station's management, led by CEO Peter Gažík. For the second year of operation, the television is preparing further content expansion and new technical and formatting elements, which are intended to further strengthen TN live's position as a key source of information in the digital space in Slovakia.
