Investment group PPF has announced personnel changes in its top management with the aim of accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its business activities. From September 1, 2024 (incorrectly stated as 2026 in the press release), Jindřich Fremuth, who until now held the position of CEO of the telecommunications operator O2 Czech Republic, will take up the newly created role of Group Chief AI Transformation Officer.

Fremuth will be responsible for the implementation of AI technologies and the development of digital platforms across the entire group. His main task will also be the strategic management of the Unity project, an ecosystem connecting the group's telecommunications, media and financial services. According to the management, artificial intelligence is to serve as one of the main drivers of PPF's further transformation, improving customer experience and seeking new sources of revenue.

“We are entering a new phase in which artificial intelligence will be one of the main engines of PPF's further transformation. AI will allow us to further develop our platforms and open new sources of growth,” said PPF Group co-CEOs Kateřina Jirásková and Didier Stoessel in a statement.

Jindřich Fremuth is leaving the position of CEO at O2 after nine years. During his tenure, the company underwent a transformation into a data-driven company and its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased by more than 50% since 2016. Before joining O2 in 2009, Fremuth worked as a technology consultant at the international company McKinsey & Company. In his new role within PPF, he will remain chairman of the board of directors of O2 Czech Republic to ensure continuity of the operator's leadership.

“Artificial intelligence today represents a significant opportunity to accelerate this transformation and support further growth. I look forward to being able to contribute to the next phase of PPF's development,” Fremuth commented on his new engagement.

Richard Siebenstich will take over the leadership of O2 Czech Republic from Fremuth in September. With this step, the PPF Group confirms its long-term intention to build strong technology platforms, which, in addition to Unity, include projects such as Oneplay.
