The Polish radio station Polskie Radio Kierowców (PRK), which specializes in broadcasting for drivers and motorists, has achieved historic success in its sixth year of existence. According to the latest data from the Radio Track survey, its listenership for the period from April to June 2026 has climbed to a record level. The station currently tunes in 124,000 listeners, which represents a significant milestone in the development of this narrowly profiled medium.
This result confirms a long-term growth trend that started in 2023 after the introduction of a new strategy. Over the past three years, the number of listeners has almost tripled. The station, which belongs to the public service Polskie Radio group, focuses on current traffic news, information about road closures on highways and local roads, and thematic content related to motoring.
Success Even Without Traditional FM Broadcasting
The uniqueness of these numbers is underscored by the fact that Polskie Radio Kierowców does not broadcast on classic FM waves. Listeners access it through several digital platforms:
- Digital terrestrial broadcasting in the DAB+ system
- The station's website
- Polskie Radio's mobile application
- Its own dedicated mobile application for drivers
Editor-in-chief of Polskie Radio, Paweł Majcher, expressed satisfaction with the results and praised the editorial team's work in building a community. According to him, achieving a record in the digital environment is proof of audience loyalty.
“It is very gratifying that, despite being available only via DAB+, app, and the internet, the team can achieve record results. The consistency in building a community of listeners, for whom Polish roads are often a workplace, as well as those who choose the radio as a companion on private trips, is to be commended,” stated Paweł Majcher.
Strategy Focused on Service
According to the station's management, the key to success is a combination of current service and entertainment. Throughout the day, the radio broadcasts live updates on traffic complications, complementing this with a music playlist and interviews with well-known personalities about their motoring experiences. The results for the second quarter of 2026 show that this model of specialized broadcasting for a specific target group has a stable place in the Polish media market and potential for further growth.
