The OSF Foundation announced the winners of the 16th annual prestigious Journalism Award 2025 competition. The public and experts nominated a total of 640 contributions from 70 different media outlets. The winners in 13 categories were decided by juries composed of active journalists and figures from academia and culture.

This year's nominations were dominated by topics of global conflicts and security threats. In the Audiovisual Reportage category, Darya Stomatová and Ján Schürger from Czech Television succeeded with the story of a father searching for his son fighting in Ukraine. The war theme was also captured by Stanislav Krupař from Magazín Reportér, who won in the Written Reportage category. The jury particularly highlighted his personal commitment on the frontline near Pokrovsk.

A critical view of the domestic scene and technological trends was brought by other awarded works. In the analytical-investigative section, the Seznam Zprávy team succeeded with the revelation of the financing of the Czech cell of the Night Wolves motorcycle club. In the field of innovative journalism, Pavel Kasík was awarded for an interactive explanation of how large artificial intelligence language models work.

“The nominations demonstrated the courage and depth of journalistic work that is not afraid to touch upon the most sensitive issues of our society. The journalistic community showed that it is capable of responding to current crises and putting them into context,” said Martina Břeňová, director of the OSF Foundation.

Traditional individual awards went to the newsrooms of Hospodářské noviny and Czech Radio. The Karel Havlíček Borovský Award for long-term contribution was awarded to commentator Petr Honzejk. The Journalist Quail for young talents under 33 years of age was received by Matěj Skalický, creator of the podcast Vinohradská 12. The Daniel Anýž Award for foreign reporting was taken by Kateřina Šafaříková from Seznam Zprávy for her long-term coverage of European politics.

The winners received a glass trophy in the shape of a feather from the company Lasvit. The Public Award, decided by people in online voting, went to Zdislava Pokorná from Deník N for an investigative text on the Ministry of Justice's cryptocurrency transactions.
