The local version of the television station Fashion TV is leaving the media market in the Czech Republic and Slovakia after more than fifteen years. The operator has decided to terminate traditional linear broadcasting, which is directly linked to the expiration of the broadcasting license of Fashion s.r.o. This move reflects the current trend in media consumption and the gradual shift of viewers away from the traditional television schedule.
The end of Fashion TV Czech & Slovak was confirmed by Michaela Nižňanská, representing the operator. The termination of distribution applies to all platforms where the channel was previously available, including cable networks, IPTV/OTT services, and satellite broadcasting. On satellite, the station was part of the offerings of the operator Slovak Telekom, specifically in the Magio Sat, DIGI SK, and Magenta TV SAT packages.
“The FashionTV Czech & Slovak program is ceasing its broadcast as a linear television station, following the expiration of the broadcasting license of Fashion s.r.o. The brand in our region is not ending. We are intensively working on new projects that reflect the evolution of the media market and changing viewing habits.”
The station was established on the market fifteen years ago and offered viewers a combination of international content from the global Fashion TV feed with local reports from the Czech and Slovak fashion environment. The original plans at the launch of the station even envisioned the creation of two separate broadcasting channels for each country, but ultimately, the option of shared content for both markets prevailed.
The end of the Czech-Slovak version follows the decline of the brand's international spread. Several months ago, the satellite broadcasting of the European Fashion TV feed was terminated in all quality formats from SD to 4K. Viewers looking for fashion content must now look for alternatives, such as the Italian program Class TV Moda at 13°E or the FashionBox station belonging to the CANAL+ group.
According to the operator, the future of the Fashion TV brand in the region is to move into the digital environment and to new forms of content distribution that better meet current market requirements. Specific parameters of the prepared projects have not yet been disclosed.
