The professional title Marketing & Media, which focuses on strategic communication, advertising, and business, is undergoing a fundamental transformation after a quarter-century of its existence. From July, it is transitioning from a weekly to a monthly periodicity. The last weekly issue will be published on Monday, June 29, while the first issue in the new format will appear on the market in the week of August 3.
The change in periodicity will also bring adjustments to the content. The magazine will expand to 76 pages and offer readers space for more extensive analytical texts, in-depth dives into market trends, and data visualizations. The editorial team plans to place a greater emphasis on journalism, opinion-based formats, and interviews with prominent figures in the Czech and global communication industry. Short news coverage will fully move to the digital environment on the magazine's website.
Response to modern reader needs
According to publisher Vladimír Bystrov, this step is a logical outcome of the market transformation. The format of a news B2B weekly, in which the title has been published since 2000, no longer corresponds to the current pace and habits of the audience. The goal is to offer a medium that, in its printed form, will remain current for a longer period and allow for a more thorough insight into professional issues.
“The weekly format pushes the editorial team too much into capturing current events. The transition to a monthly will free up our hands and allow us to more consistently focus on what is essential and beneficial for our community,” said MAM editorial head Stanislav Šulc.
Long history in the hands of new owners
Marketing & Media is one of the oldest professional titles of its kind in the Czech Republic. It was founded within the Economia publishing house, which managed it until 2018. After that, the title was taken over by Forum Media publishing house, which is part of the Bison & Rose communication group. In addition to the printed magazine and website, the brand also operates the Forum Media conference, the largest event in the field of marketing and media in Central Europe.
The new monthly concept is also expected to enable better integration with the autumn conference program, which regularly features international experts. For advertisers, the change means a longer lifespan for their campaigns within a single issue, which will be available to readers throughout the month.
