Operator Magenta TV announced a “blanket price increase for all tariffs that include the Netflix streaming service. The change, which appeared on existing customers' April invoices, will become effective on June 1. With this step, the operator is responding to the global price adjustment by the American platform Netflix, which it is now reflecting in the final prices for Czech users.
The price adjustment applies to all three main subscription tiers. For the Netflix Basic package, the price increases to CZK 259 per month. Users of the Netflix Standard variant will now pay CZK 339, and the highest tier Netflix Premium will cost CZK 419. The increase reflects the change in licensing costs that the operator pays to the content provider.
The changes will not only affect standalone television packages but are also implemented in the offer of selected mobile tariffs from the Next series. The operator in its official statement emphasizes that this is an externally induced decision by the service provider. In addition to the basic tariffs, the prices of supplementary extensions are also changing: upgrading to the Standard version is now charged CZK 80 and to the Premium version CZK 160 per month.
Customers who do not agree with the new price conditions have the right to react to the change. According to the operator, they can terminate the Netflix service in their package at any time without any penalties. However, cancellation must be done in accordance with the operator's standard processes to ensure correct termination of billing for this item in subsequent periods.
“The price alteration is caused by an external decision of the service provider and the operator only implements it into its portfolio.”
This step follows a wave of price increases that Netflix is gradually introducing in various markets around the world. For Magenta TV users, this means that the advantage of integrating the service into a single bill remains, but at a price corresponding to the current market conditions of the streaming giant.
