The news server of the second largest public service media, iROZHLAS.cz, has announced a selection process for junior reporter positions. The offer is primarily aimed at university students or recent graduates, and is intended to open the path to professional journalism for them. The collaboration will take the form of an Agreement on Work Activity (DPČ) with an anticipated duration until the end of 2026 and the possibility of subsequent extension.
The work of junior reporters includes monitoring current domestic and world events and subsequently processing them for the needs of the website. A key part of the agenda is also adapting audio content from the broadcasts of ČRo Radiožurnál and ČRo Plus stations into written form. New employees will work directly in the newsroom in Prague's Vinohrady, where they will collaborate with experienced editors and reporters.
Czech Radio requires applicants to have at least completed secondary education, excellent knowledge of the Czech language, and proven interest in online journalism. Given the nature of news operations, 8.5-hour shifts are required in both morning and afternoon times, including weekends and holidays. However, the editorial board declares time flexibility and the possibility of individual shift planning a month in advance, which allows for combining work with study obligations.
Those interested in the position must submit their applications no later than June 14, 2026. In addition to a structured CV, the selection process also includes a motivational letter, in which candidates should evaluate the current production of the iROZHLAS.cz server and describe their habits when consuming news content. The official start date is set for August 1, 2026, or by individual agreement.
The news portal iROZHLAS.cz currently reaches approximately 1.5 million readers monthly online. In addition to daily news, it also profiles itself with its own topics and an extensive section on data journalism. For young journalists, it is therefore one of the most significant platforms for gaining professional experience within public service media.
