Races from the Formula E series will become part of the Disney+ streaming platform's offering from the 2026/27 season. Disney Entertainment has entered a partnership that will ensure global coverage of this electric single-seater championship. In the United States, content will be available on Disney+ and ESPN+, while in most international markets, broadcasts will be exclusively on Disney+.
A New Era with GEN4 Technologies
The agreement comes at a crucial moment as the championship enters its next phase of development. According to the series' management, the collaboration with the global media giant will help reach millions of new viewers. Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, sees this step as a significant milestone for future growth.
“Disney’s unrivalled global reach will introduce Formula E to new fans and bring them closer to the drama and innovation of electric racing. We are entering the GEN4 era, which provides us with an exceptional platform to accelerate growth,” stated Jeff Dodds.
In addition to live race broadcasts, both parties plan to explore other collaboration opportunities that would offer fans interactive and innovative experiences beyond the track itself.
Expansion of Sports Content on Streaming
For Disney+, the inclusion of motorsport is not an isolated step but part of a broader strategy to strengthen its live broadcasting segment. The platform aims to compete with traditional television channels through an ever-expanding portfolio of rights:
- FIFA 2026 World Cup in South America.
- Selected matches of the Spanish football LALIGA in European markets.
- NBA basketball in the Philippines.
- UEFA Women's Champions League across Europe and Latin America.
Joe Earley of Disney Entertainment emphasized that Formula E combines top-tier competition with a focus on sustainability. “We are excited to help launch the next chapter of the championship and provide fans worldwide with access to every race in real time,” added Earley.
