A new radio station focused on education, EDU Radio, has received permission to significantly expand its broadcasting. The Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting (RRTV) approved a change in license conditions at its seventh session on May 26, 2026, which allows the operator to broadcast throughout the entire Czech Republic.
EDU Radio, s.r.o. previously held a license with a limited territorial scope for Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. The current decision by the regulator removes this restriction and changes the station's status to nationwide. This marks rapid development for the project, as EDU Radio entered the market just on April 1 of this year.
Currently, the educational program is broadcast digitally within regional distribution. Listeners can find it in the DAB+ network of operator RTI cz in the Prague and Central Bohemia region, and the signal is also available in the network operated by Fiera.
The license change represents a key step for the station's further expansion. The transition to nationwide coverage will enable the operator to reach a wider spectrum of listeners and offer educational content within the framework of planned broadcasting networks with nationwide reach.
