Czech Television is expanding its portfolio of discussion formats with a new show called Na dosah (Within Reach). The main face of the project is presenter Daniel Stach, known to viewers primarily from the science editorial team and the program Hyde Park Civilizace. The new show will focus on current social topics, scientific progress, and powerful personal stories, with an emphasis on interactivity and clarity for a wide audience.
According to Czech Television Director General Hynek Chudárek, opening discussions on topics that move society is one of the key tasks of a public service media. “Daniel Stach is also one of the most popular faces of Czech Television, which is why I believe that viewers will welcome and appreciate the new discussion program Na dosah,” said Chudárek. The program will combine expert discussion with modern visual elements, including a live-created drawn summary of the entire debate, which is intended to help viewers navigate the material discussed.
“It won't just be scientists talking. We will explain where and how the boundaries of possibilities in medicine are shifting today and we will show advanced technical limb replacements. On specific stories, we will describe how an individual can change the healthcare system and how Czech society can come together and help,” Daniel Stach describes the content of the first episode.
The premiere issue will welcome a wide range of guests. Confirmed personalities include surgeon Robert Lischke, immunologist Markéta Bloomfield, microbiologist and theologian Marek Orko Vácha, co-founder of the Nina endowment fund Martin Chovanec, and Paralympian Jonáš Kešnar. The second part of the show will then move to the field, specifically to the Rock for People music festival. Here, the creators plan to involve festival visitors directly in the discussion, which will also include an interview with Dexter Holland, frontman of The Offspring.
The ČT news management places great emphasis on multimedia reach for the new format. According to Petr Mrzena, director of the News and current affairs division, the ČT24 website and social media will be intensively involved in the project. “The goal is to bring topics closer to viewers and the audience on site and to seek solutions and outcomes in discussion with them,” added Mrzena. The show Na dosah will start on the screens of the news channel ČT24 and in iVysílání on May 19.
