Cordiant Digital Infrastructure (CORD), an investment company specializing in digital infrastructure, has announced a significant step forward in the commercialization of 5G broadcast technology. This innovation allows television and video signals to be delivered directly to mobile devices with a 5G chip without needing to consume mobile data or rely on the capacity of standard mobile networks. For end-users, this means the ability to watch linear broadcasting in high quality even in areas with congested networks.
In the Czech context, the subsidiary České Radiokomunikace (CRA), which is part of the Cordiant group's portfolio, plays a key role in this strategy. CRA is already successfully testing 5G broadcast technology in the Czech Republic and is among the European leaders in its practical deployment. Experience from the Czech market, where several waves of testing took place in cooperation with public and commercial broadcasters, forms the basis for the broader international expansion of this technology.
“5G broadcast can fundamentally change the way video content reaches viewers, without them needing mobile data or classic network coverage,” said company representatives in an interview with the Proactive platform.
In addition to commercial use for advertisers and television stations, Cordiant's leadership, headed by Executive Chairman Steven Marshall, emphasizes the security dimension of the system. The technology is highly resilient and remains functional even in crisis situations when standard mobile networks are congested or inoperable. This makes it a priority tool for state regulators and integrated rescue system components for disseminating urgent warnings to the population.
The group has already taken steps towards a pan-European deployment, with its subsidiaries completing live video delivery tests for the European Commission. These tests confirmed the technical readiness of the infrastructure across various markets. Cordiant Digital Infrastructure combines technology development with strengthening its position in financial markets. The company is currently transitioning to the main market of the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
This strategic move follows the achievement of a net asset value (NAV) of one billion pounds. Entry into the LSE's main market is expected to provide the group with better access to capital, increased stock liquidity, and enable further investments in modernizing broadcasting and data infrastructure in Europe and North America.
