CANAL+ announced a strategic partnership with the organizers of the prestigious Venice International Film Festival. It has become an official sponsor for the upcoming 83rd edition of this significant cultural event. At the same time, the media group successfully renewed its cooperation with Italian public broadcaster RAI, guaranteeing it exclusive access to extensive content directly from the event.
Under this agreement, CANAL+ will provide comprehensive coverage to subscribers in many territories. The coverage includes not only its home country France and its overseas territories, but also Monaco, Andorra, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Mauritius. The service will also be available to viewers in francophone Africa, confirming the platform's wide international reach.
Opening Ceremony and a Glimpse of the Red Carpet
Viewers can look forward to a detailed insight into the festival's events, including broadcasts produced by Italian RAI. The coverage will focus primarily on the most attractive moments of the entire event, which include:
- live segments from the red carpet,
- the festive opening ceremony,
- the final awards ceremony and closing of the festival.
In addition to current events, the broadcaster will also emphasize the historical value of cinematography. The CANAL+ digital application will offer a special section with a curated selection of films that have appeared at the Venice Festival in the past or won some of its prestigious awards there.
Emphasis on World Cinema
CANAL+ CEO Maxime Saada expressed satisfaction with the new form of cooperation. According to him, the festival annually shapes the development of world cinema and brings works that have a lasting cultural impact.
“We are delighted to strengthen our ties with this iconic event, whose artistic quality and international reach reflect CANAL+'s long-standing commitment to filmmaking,”Saada stated in an official announcement regarding the sponsorship.
This year's Venice Film Festival will kick off in Italy on September 2nd and will last until September 12th. For CANAL+, this collaboration represents another step in strengthening its position as a key player in the distribution of quality film content in Europe and beyond.
